The Purpose of Dorcas Guild
To develop and encourage Christian fellowship among women members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
To welcome and call on strangers and new members in the congregation whenever names are presented by the pastor.
To act as sponsor for the Altar Guild and be responsible for extra expenses incurred by it after notification of its plans.
To give financial aid, when possible, to missionary endeavors that require our assistance.
To cooperate with other societies within the church in the furtherance of Christian endeavor.
MEETINGS are held the first Tuesday of each month, except July and August, and except where noted due to a holiday.
MEMBERSHIP requires active participation from all for the betterment of all.

POLICY
A prospective member must attend two out of three month's meetings to be eligible for membership.
Each member is expected to participate actively in meetings and projects; to fee free to express herself at meetings; and to contribute her ideas as well as time and talents in developing means of raising funds for guild use.
Members who have not attended regularly will be called during June by the Membership Committee so that membership can be kept current.
Members who do not attend and participate in the guild's activities for a one-year period will be deleted from the membership list. Those members wishing to be considered inactive will be asked to make a minimum of $10.00 contribution in lieu of time and talents.
Each member is expected to make donations when called upon, or to serve on committees for any function.
It is the policy of the guild to allocate memorials I the amount of $30 for a member of the guild, $15 for members of the immediate family (husband, child, and parents of a guild member), and up to $50 (including tax & delivery chgs.) for gifts for hospitalized members.
It is the policy of the guild to give a monetary gift to the Schlechte Scholarship Fund each year in honor of those students of our congregation who are actively pursuing a course of study in church-related work. The amount of the gift is to be determined when the budget is adopted at the September meeting.
Each member is expected to serve as hostess when called upon. The hostesses plan a dessert and coffee to be served at the meeting; they share the duties and expense.
Each member is expected to serve on a devotional committee when called upon. She is to prepare a devotion for that month's meeting.
If a member is unable to serve for either hostess or devotions, she is to make arrangements to trade with another member and advise the secretary of the trade.
It is the policy of the guild to give a monetary gift to each full-time church staff member at Christmas, the amount of which will be determined when the budget is adopted at the September meeting.
It is the policy of the guild that all standing committee chairmen meet with their successors to explain the committee's duties no later than one month after officerinstallation.
The treasure's books shall be audited each June by a committee of two guild members appointed by the president.
The guild purchases the baptismal napkins used at each church baptism. The church office orders them when needed and bills the guild.
It is the policy of the guild to give a cross to a newborn child of a guild member. The visiting chairman keeps a supply of these and re-orders as necessary.
The guild sponsors a family fellowship every other year as a service to our church. There is no attempt to deliberately earn a profit on this event.
The guild provides services and supplies for the upkeep of the church kitchen, as requested by the Board of Parish Fellowship, as deemed reasonable by the guild.
When asked by members of the congregation, the guild will provide and/or serve food in Founders Hall after the funeral, to be coordinated with the funeral coordinator. The guild will ask for a reimbursement of food bought by the guild, and a free-will donation for service.
