TAYLOR OKEY - Taylor received his B.M. in Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Performance from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. While at Elmhurst, Taylor was a leading member in numerous vocal ensembles including the Elmhurst College Concert Choir, Choir, Chamber Singers, and the award winning vocal jazz ensemble “Late Night Blues.”
For the past two seasons, Taylor could be seen on stage at Six Flags Great America performing in such shows as Rockin’ Country Live! and the award winning musical Love at First Fright. When not teaching privately, Taylor can be seen working as a professional actor and solo artist throughout the Chicagoland area. He is currently starring in the US non-equity premier of Lawrence Mark Wythe’s award winning Musical “Tomorrow Morning.” Additional theater credits include “Carousel”, “The Threepenny Opera”, “Suessical”, “Joseph and the Technocolored Dreamcoat”, “The Music Man”, and the regional non-equity premier of Disney’s “High School Musical.” Taylor has also worked as a director and choreographer for multiple productions including “The Music Man” with Wells Community Theater in Bluffton, IN and “Once upon a Mattress” alongside Sarah Giordano at Jackson Middle School.
In 2010, Taylor was hired as a member of the chorus to perform alongside the Chicago Pops Orchestra in the concert “Distant Worlds: The Music from Final Fantasy.” This performance led to a recording opportunity to serve as a member of the chorus featured on the most recent Final Fantasy album.
Prior to Trinity Music Center, Taylor spent the last two years teaching privately at Beyond Center Stage Performing Arts Academy in Elmhurst. In addition to private lessons, he also taught several acting and musical theater courses.
